It started a few years ago and it seems to be here to stay. The initiative El Prado by night, which opens the doors of one of the most important museums in Madrid completely free of charge at night, will continue in 2025.
This was announced by the museum itself (Paseo del Prado, s/n) on Monday, January 27, in view of the imminent return of El Prado by night: the first opening at night is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
During this opening, the public will have access to the temporary exhibitions Shaking Hands. Sculpture and color in the Golden Age -sponsored by the AXA Foundation- and Sigmar Polke. Affinities Unveiled, the painter’s first solo exhibition in Madrid, presented by the Prado Museum and the Fundación Amigos Museo del Prado in collaboration with the Madrid City Council.
Visitors will also be able to see the Risen Christ, the first work by the artist Giulio Clovio to be housed in the Museo del Prado collections, thanks to a donation by American Friends.
The Prado at Night Beyond the Paintings
In addition to the exceptional opening of these exhibitions, and as usual, Radio 3 will provide music to the experience from the Muses room with the station’s DJs María Taosa, José Manuel Sebastián and Nacho Patillas DJ.
There will also be a photocall (designed by Samsung) and the Prado Café and the Museum store will be open. The Prado, by the way, is not the only museum in the city -and more specifically, in the Art Triangle- that will carry out these openings: a few days ago the Thyssen confirmed that throughout 2025 it will open for free on Saturday nights.
