Finding an apartment for rent for less than 250€ in the Community of Madrid sounds utopian, but it is not. Or, rather, it won’t be: the Community of Madrid gave the green light just a few days ago to the construction, for 58.1 million euros, of 279 affordable housing units for vulnerable families.
The apartments will be built in the Madrid municipality of Valdemoro by means of two housing developments located on Agustina de Aragón (with 240 properties) and Marie Curie (where the remaining 39 will be built) streets.
Both are part of the State Plan for Access to Housing, for which the Community of Madrid provides 85% of the financing.
How will the apartments be rented for less than 250€?
In the case of the Agustina de Aragón street development, there will be 240 two-bedroom apartments -of which 10 will be adapted for people with reduced mobility-, and they will also have a garage and storage room, premises and common services.
In the case of the 39 apartments on Marie Curie Street, they will be “two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments”, of which 4% will be reserved for citizens with mobility difficulties. The development will also be equipped with “car parking and community facilities”.
As for the rental price, the first three months will be only €60. From that moment on, it rises to the following figures depending on the promotion we are talking about:
- Agustina de Aragón promotion (2 bedrooms): 237€.
- Marie Curie promotion (1 to 4 bedrooms): from 253€.
According to the information provided by the Community of Madrid, the homes “will have an aerothermal air conditioning system, which is more efficient and saves energy for families”.
Construction deadlines for the developments
These apartments, which are part of the 1,687 that the regional government plans to build during this term of office to increase the assets of the Social Housing Agency (AVS), have a construction period of between 26 and 30 months. Construction is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of this year.
On the other hand, the Community of Madrid will also build 150 homes under the Vive-Solución Joven Plan at number 6 Agustina de Aragón Street. As can be seen on the Plan Vive website, the bidding process is pending and registration will be opened soon to apply for any of them.
