The Getafe City Council has launched for the first time in 2025 a call for rental subsidies of up to 1,500 euros, aimed specifically at residents between 30 and 45 years old. This measure is a milestone in the local housing policy of the municipality, as it is the first time that municipal funds are allocated to cover part of the rent payment and reinforce the residential stability of families with roots in the city, in a context of strong real estate pressure and rising prices.
Main requirements to access the rental subsidies:
- To be between 30 and 45 years old.
- To be registered in Getafe for at least two years.
- To be the holder of a rental contract for at least one year.
- That the joint income of the cohabitation unit does not exceed 1,100 euros per month.
The aid consists of a single payment of up to 1,500 euros per applicant. The call, already approved by the Governing Board, will be opened in the coming days and is part of the Municipal Housing Plan, which also includes the construction of 51 new public housing units and other lines of support for the rehabilitation and accessibility of buildings.
Mayor Sara Hernandez stressed that this aid “is a step forward in our policy of direct support to working families,” and recalled that Getafe continues to demand more resources from the Community of Madrid and the declaration of “stressed area” to apply caps on rent and extend protection to more residents.
