Christmas has already arrived at the Alhóndiga Park in Getafe, which this winter becomes a luminous safari through the biodiversity of our planet. Brilla Zoo has returned to the south of Madrid with a tour of light figures that mixes art, divulgation and fantasy: a walk through different habitats of the planet that, more than exhibiting animals, invites you to look at them with curiosity and to understand the place they occupy and how important they are. The Christmas season is already underway this week and tickets are already on sale.
Along a 700-meter route and over 2,000 m² of installation, parade mammal pachyderms like elephants, carnivores with a mainly vegetable diet like pandas, birds like flamingos and cephalopods like the octopus; each one anchors an ecosystem – savannah, ocean, forest or poles – and reminds us of the beauty and fragility of the places we share.
The walk is completed with a leisure and restaurant area designed to take a break, have a snack and a very special novelty: a skating rink that extends the visit. Of course, the entrance to Brilla Zoo does not include the entrance to the rink, so you must buy your ticket separately here.
Brilla Zoo Madrid: nature, animals and legendary creatures in a festival of lights.
Brilla Zoo is not just a visual exhibition: it is a way of telling nature through wonder. Each installation suggests a message, from respect for endangered species to the idea that all habitats are connected.
At the lake, a water screen with Christmas projections and light effects adds an almost dreamlike layer to the tour, which is meant to be done in a group or as a family and is experienced between fun, conversation and photography for family memories.
Among giraffes and pandas also appear legendary figures: phoenixes and unicorns that capture both children and adults, reminding us that fantasy has always been part of our way of understanding nature.
The result is an educational walk that, under such a Christmas pretext as spending time with the family, leaves a deeper impression: that of looking at the planet with the same curiosity with which we look at the lights.
