This weekend, February 14 and 15, the Sol commuter station will be closed for tunnel improvementworks . According to Renfe, trains on lines C-3 and C-4 will not stop there.
The passage between Nuevos Ministerios and Atocha will be closed, so the railway company has recommended using other lines that run through the Recoletos tunnel. This renovation is intended to improve the safety and reliability of the infrastructure.
Affected trains and alternatives

Trains on line C-3 originating in Aranjuez will begin and end their journey in Atocha. Meanwhile, C-4 services from Parla or Getafe Sector 3 will terminate in Atocha , and those departing from Colmenar Viejo and Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes will terminate in Nuevos Ministerios.
To continue their journeys, users can take the C-2, C-7, C-9, and C-10 commuter lines, which pass through the Recoletos tunnel and connect Atocha with Nuevos Ministerios, ensuring continuity.
During the two days of closure, Renfe will inform passengers via public address announcements and station staff , reminding them of alternative travel options. In any case, it is recommended that passengers check timetables and allow extra time for this transfer.
Works at Sol

The improvement and maintenance work at Sol station is nothing new, as there have been similar closures in recent months. This was the case in November and December, when workwas carried out to facilitate incident management, improve safety, and reduce traffic.
On this occasion, safety is once again one of the main objectives, as well as improving the tunnel infrastructure. The results are expected to be favorable for commuter rail service in the medium and long term.
