After pilates there is a new trendy sport, barre: a discipline that combines ballet, yoga, pilates and resistance exercises. Although new studios dedicated exclusively to it are flourishing in the center of Madrid this past year, it is not a new sport, since it was born in London in the 60s by the hand of the dancer Lotte Berk.
Its success is explained to us by Mariana Muñoz, founder of Boutique Barre: “barre is the complementary discipline, perfect for any athlete, but it is also ideal if you can only dedicate a couple of days a week to exercise, as it is very complete, working endurance, flexibility and coordination.”
Casa Barré
Casa Barré is a studio dedicated exclusively to this fashionable discipline, but it is also known for being a cafe that serves collagen shakes in the style of the Erewhon supermarket in Los Angeles (USA). In fact, both the barré and the concept of combining coffee shop and gym boutique,is a trend imported by the wellness gurus of this American city.
This fusion between teaching a low-impact sport and being a place to have a drink is their key to success, they already have three studios in Madrid and another in Barcelona.

Boutique Barre
Mariana Muñoz was a trainer in Mexico for Body Barre -which is the reference in LATAM-, when she arrived in Madrid she opened her own space. Now Boutique Barre is one of the pioneer studios to specialize in barre in Madrid and a reference within the practice. In addition, they explain from the center that its approach is more comprehensive “with nutrition plans and advice sent by newsletter to all members of the study”.

Gong
.
Gong is the club that brings together low-impact sports that are linked to each other and at the same time each triumphs in its own way: yoga, pilates and barre. The difference of the latter with the others is that the ballet barre is essential for the exercises and the music guides the class. It also offers training and workshops to deepen the three disciplines.

HOM
HOM stands for House Of Movement, because in this center movement (controlled and reinforced) is the goal. Here they have also decided to add classes that fuse the elegance of ballet with the intensity of functional training-barre-with machine pilates, i.e., reformer, and yoga. Her classes are designed for all levels, from beginner to expert.
