Since April 5, Madrid has a new space where you can have a coffee while contemplating the back of the Royal Palace surrounded by the green of the gardens. La Terraza del Campo del Moro opens its doors with the arrival of good weather with a space for 80 diners and uninterrupted kitchen that opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 h to 20:00 h from April to September.
Patrimonio Nacional has entrusted this exceptional location in the most beautiful gardens of Madrid to the hotelier Johanna Müller-Klingspor and Estribo, the catering and events brand of Ucalsa. Together they have created a menu composed of Spanish tapas classics, from croquettes to the mixed sandwich, without great innovations, but ideal for a drink during the long evenings of spring and summer.

Terrace at Campo del Moro
This terrace has reopened after closing two years ago due to complications with the license, as reported by EPE, and this is the only establishment located within the gardens. This park, despite its beauty, has been practically empty of tourists until last year, when two new gates were opened at the top of the enclosure, which in addition to facilitating entry to the Gallery of Royal Collections, have brought new visitors, although it remains uncrowded.
The lack of crowds does not detract one iota of the charm it already has, on the contrary, lets you enjoy it. For Madrid Secreto visit it is among the 50 things you have to do in Madrid, at least once in life, for many reasons. First its history: these gardens are almost older than the palace itself, although not in its current state, but when Philip II bought them as a recreation area which was located behind was the old Alcazar.
We owe the English garden aspect to Queen Maria Christina of Habsburg, who also ordered the construction of the Tyrolean style chalet that is hidden among the grove. To add to the magic, the permanent inhabitants are the peacocks that sometimes jump the fence and stroll through Madrid Rio.
