La Casa Encendida (Ronda de Valencia, 2) will become, from this Friday, April 24, through Sunday, April 26, the epicenter of independent book publishing with the celebration of the Libros Mutantes Madrid Art Book Fair 2026, an edition without precedent in the history of this event.
This fair, which has become one of the most eagerly awaited events for book lovers —and, incidentally, one of the most important in the sector both nationally and internationally—will host its largest, most ambitious, and most cosmopolitan edition in 2026.
This is evidenced, for example, by the fact that more than 50% of the participating exhibitors are from abroad, and that some of them—such as Iran, Egypt, South Korea, and Greece—are participating for the first time.
In total, visitors to the fair will find 125 projects that “work across publishing, design, and graphic experimentation, creating a diverse space open to exchange,” according to La Casa Encendida.
Program of activities for Libros Mutantes 2026

Just as a good book is never confined to the act of reading itself but permeates other areas of life —it creeps into everyday conversations, prompts us to recommend and lend it, or to research its author—a fair dedicated to independent publishing that also considers itself “mutant” could not remain unchanged from one year to the next nor “limit” itself exclusively to the various exhibitors.
That is why, as a new feature, Libros Mutantes offers various activities such as talks, workshops, and sessions titled “ ” that invite visitors to discover everything from how a typeface’s name is chosen to participating in a live challenge based on the game GeoGuessr. The full program (and whether registration is required) can be found at this link.
All of this will be accompanied by music sets by 21Angel$, Alexander Gross, Arvin Dola, Ciba, Claws, Fuentes-Guerra, Gawon Lee, Gisele South, Hayk Karoyi, Jimena, Nora Dris, Takumi Tomita, and Worst Timing in the Patio of La Casa Encendida. On Saturday night, the party will move to Sala Villanos with KMILA, SO FIX IT, KID CALA, and LANDA, and admission will be by ticket, priced at €15.
