Right off the A-1, just a few kilometers from downtown, the Santo Domingo neighborhood in Algete is once again putting on its best show with a new edition of the Garden Market—the flea market held at the Santo Domingo Shopping Center that has become an increasingly popular destination for those seeking unique finds away from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
On April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., this open-air shopping center will transform into a small, temporary village of stalls, fabrics, and colors. Along its aisles and plazas, brands will gather offering fashion, children’s fashion, jewelry, crafts, candles, homemade sweets, and home decor items that eschew standard products in favor of the unique.
One of the Garden Market’s biggest draws is precisely those details you won’t find in just any store. Among the exhibitors, you candiscover jewelry crafted from fresh flowers, transformed into small spring charms to wear around your neck, on your ears, or on your wrist. Also noteworthy are the handmade ceramic pieces, unique objects that serve both as special tableware and as small decorative touches for the home: imperfect cups, glazed plates, organic vases, and bowls that look as though they came from an artist’s studio rather than a production line.

But the Garden Market isn’t just about shopping. One of its strengths is that it takes place in a shopping center with a wide variety of dining options, turning the visit into a full morning outing. After browsing the stalls, visitors can stop by Barra de Pintxos for classic tapas, or head to Xarel·lo for a more relaxed, ingredient-focused dining experience, among other options better suited for large groups, such as burger joints.
The result is a small leisure ecosystem where everyone can design their own itinerary: early risers can arrive first thing in the morning, take advantage of the market’s initial calm, buy some crafts, have a snack on the terrace of one of the shops, and head home by mid-afternoon. Others will prefer to arrive later, combine shopping with a leisurely lunch, and spend the rest of the day in the neighborhood or exploring other parts of northern Madrid. Access is also convenient, as it is located at kilometer 28 of the A-1 (exit 28), making it easy to get there by car.
Beyond the April 18 event, the Garden Market aims to establish itself as a seasonal staple, and has already marked two other dates on the calendar: May 16 and June 6.
