The new Parador de Molina de Aragón, located just two hours from Madrid, has become one of the great tourist premieres of 2025 and an ideal destination for a cultural and nature getaway from the capital. The particularity of this opening is that it stands in front of the imposing castle of Molina de Aragón, a 12th century fortress considered the second largest in Spain. And although it is true that paradors are usually located in places with historical relevance for the country, the location of this one is especially unique.
The opening of the Parador de Molina de Aragón is the culmination of a project that has been many years in the making, since the Government committed to it after the devastating fire of 2005 that devastated more than 13,000 hectares and cost the lives of eleven members of a forestry retinue. The new building, with an investment of 22 million euros, aims to revitalize the region, attract quality tourism and become the economic engine of the area.
What the new Parador looks like
The Parador is a new building designed to blend into the surrounding hills, with large windows in all its rooms overlooking the medieval castle and the landscape of the Molina-Alto Tajo UNESCO World Geopark. It has a total of 24 rooms, including two luxury suites, spread over three floors, all with natural light and a decor that combines modernity and a nod to the past.
The Parador is the starting point to discover the heritage of Guadalajara and the Molina-Alto Tajo region. In addition to the castle itself, in the area there are places as peculiar as the Magic Rocks of the Sierra de Caldereros, the Escaleruela waterfall, the Mesa Valley or the castle of Zafra, famous for its appearance in the series Game of Thrones.
