The Four Seasons, one of the most important pieces in the history of classical music, comes to life in Madrid in an immersive format. It is Enlightenment, a project that invades every corner of the German-speaking Evangelical Community Church. Inside, the iconic Vivaldi concerts are fused with the latest projection technology, creating a multi-sensory show. It can be visited only until April 27 so get your tickets here.
This show, which ends in a few weeks, has already marked a new chapter in the dialogue between PROJEKTIL, the collective of artists behind this art installation, and the city of Madrid.
Enlightenment, an exciting audiovisual story beyond the seasons
The new show proposes a concept somewhere between baroque and contemporary. The heart of the show beats to the rhythm of Antonio Vivaldi’s music, composed in the 18th century, but the accompanying technology is state-of-the-art audiovisual. The four seasons come to life inside this charming church, with a visual and sound approach that evokes the cycle of nature, but also goes much further, touching on the mystical and spiritual .
The show narrates the well-known timeless work from a more philosophical approach. The cycle of the seasons flows in six acts. The music travels through each season, but once all have been visited, it continues on to a spiritual reflection.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter draw the transitions, the birth of life, the stillness, the melancholy marks the winter, the autumnal colors… until reaching Samsara and Nirvana (the fifth and sixth acts).
Samsara narrates the eternal flow of life and rebirth that culminates in Nirvana. An explosion of color that can only mean one thing: the end and transcendence.
PROJEKTIL, the creators behind Enlightenment
All this display of technology, art and music has been designed by PROJEKTIL, a collective of artists who are also co-producers of the show. Their ranks range from visual artists to musicians to programmers.
Great professionals of technology and art that unite spirituality and emotion to the classical music of Vivaldi. The Swiss collective has succeeded in transforming emblematic spaces into visual narratives all over Europe and now touches Madrid with its light.
The German-speaking Evangelical Community, a spiritual stage.

Also known as Friedenkirche, this space built for reflection, is in full view of everyone at number 6 Paseo de la Castellana and yet it is a rather unknown treasure in the center of the city.
Built at the end of the 19th century and conceived by architect Oskar Jürgens, it is neo-Romanesque in style and stands as an ideal hidden gem to become the canvas for something as symbolic as the cycle of life and nature.
