Born more than 50 years ago in Santa Cruz de la Zarza, a Toledo town of just over 4,000 inhabitants, and is sweeping with its artisanal sheep’s milk cheeses: Quesos La Mueda has won three awards just a few days ago at the Concours International de Lyon, a competition in which more than 3,000 cheeses from twenty countries have been presented.
From its French experience, this cheese factory has brought home two gold medals -one for its semi-cured cheese with truffle and another for its cured cheese with flowers “El queso del amor”- and a silver medal -for its cured cheese made from pasteurized milk-.
Their track record does not end there: last November they participated in the prestigious World Cheese Awards, held in Bern, and four of their cheeses were awarded prizes. “This is not magic, it is the result of the dedication and immense love we put into our work,” they wrote in a publication after the event.
And although La Mueda cheese factory does not have a store in Madrid, its multi-award-winning cheeses will be available for tasting this month: specifically on the weekend of December 13-14.
Artisanal cheese tasting at the Mercado de Motores.

The tastings will take place as part of the celebration of the Mercado de Motores (Paseo de las Delicias, 61), in which they usually participate, and both days the appointment will be in their own stand at 17:30h -located on the right platform from the entrance of the Railway Museum-.
The experience includes the tasting of six exclusive varieties of sheep and goat cheese, pairing with two wines from Castilla-La Mancha (white and red) and ends with fresh sheep’s milk, milked the day before and pasteurized.
