Madrid will host a special sustainable mobility event this Sunday, September 20, featuring bicycles, scooters, skateboards, helmets, and other secondhand accessories that can be obtained for free. The initiative, organized by ReMAD, will take place on Paseo del Prado, across from the Prado Museum, as part of the European Mobility Week program and the large-scale public festival that will take place along the Atocha-Cibeles corridor.
A total of 160 items will be available. To take one home, you won’t need to pay, but you will need to register in person as a ReMAD user during the event. The initiative aims to demonstrate that many items that are no longer used can still have a second life and serve others, while encouraging Madrid residents to adopt more sustainable modes of transportation.
What You Can Get for Free
ReMAD’s selection will include options for different ages and ways of getting around the city. There will be nine adult bicycles, 16 children’s bicycles, eight balance bikes, 16 helmets, 12 push cars, 23 skateboards, 30 pairs of inline skates, 30 scooters, and 16 three-wheeled scooters.
The event is particularly appealing to families with children, as a significant portion of the items is intended for young children. Children’s bicycles, balance bikes, ride-on toys, and three-wheeled scooters offer a great opportunity to obtain recreational and mobility equipment without having to buy new items.
The items to be distributed have been inspected by the municipal service before being made available to users again.
How to get a bike or a scooter

To be eligible for one of the 160 items , you must go to the ReMAD station located across from the Prado Museum on Paseo del Prado on Sunday and complete the in-person registration process there to become a user of the platform. After registering, attendees will be able to request the vehicles and accessories available during the event free of charge.
The organization has not provided details on a pre-registration system for this giveaway, so it is recommended to arrive early.
The event takes place right in the heart of the Atocha-Cibeles corridor, allowing participants to combine picking up an item with enjoying a different kind of Sunday in downtown Madrid. The area around Paseo del Prado will host other activities related to European Mobility Week, a campaign that seeks to promote public transportation, walking, biking, and other alternatives to private cars.
