To paraphrase the poet, Madrid is home to multitudes… and the multitudes are home to Madrid. The multitudes change, they move on, and spaces are transformed. Just like Rocío Jurado’s historic home in La Moraleja.
For nearly two decades, the house in question was one of the most recognizable settings in Spanish social chronicles. Known as Montealto, the singer’s mansion featured a marble staircase, a grand piano, swimming pools, and even a private flamenco stage. Today, many of those features have disappeared, and the property has been sold—as reported by Divinity in February 2026—for 12 million euros.
The home is located in the exclusive La Moraleja neighborhood in Alcobendas and was purchased by the artist in 1988. She lived there with her family until her death in 2006.
From a 1990s mansion to a contemporary luxury home
The original decor reflected the tastes of the ’80s and ’90s: marble, stately furniture, ornate upholstery, and large draperies. The living room featured a fireplace, a walnut piano topped with a bronze bust of the singer, and numerous musical awards.
One of the most personal spaces was in the basement, where Rocío Jurado had her own flamenco stage with a small wine cellar. The house also featured a gym, a heated indoor pool, and a spacious garden with another pool.
Subsequent renovations have transformed virtually every room. The old marble staircase has been replaced by a more understated, glass-paneled one, while the living room has been converted into an open-concept space. The flamenco stage is gone, and a home theater has been added. Outside, the rounded swimming pool has been replaced by one with straight lines.
From 3.4 to 12 million euros
The singer’s family sold the property in 2008. It later passed into the hands of a bank, which attempted to auction it off in 2017 but failed to find a buyer. In 2022, it returned to the market for 3.4 million euros, according to a report by idealista.
Following another sale in 2023 and a complete renovation, the property was put back on the market for 12 million euros in late 2025. In February 2026, Telecinco’s program *El tiempo justo* reported that it had been sold for that amount.
Of the residence once occupied by Rocío Jurado, only the structure, the mansard roof, and the stone wall surrounding the lot remain. The house retains its location, but it has lost almost all the features that made it recognizable during the singer’s lifetime.
