There is a part of voyeur and a part of treasure hunter in attending a house sale. First, because you don’t know what the taste of the people who now sell the world in which they lived was, and second, because even if you are legally there, even with your ticket, it still feels like breaking into the privacy of people you don’t even know.
The first weekend of October there is a new opportunity to once again feel like you are intruding into a house while you imagine how that lamp will look in your living room, because La Moraleja Home Market returns. The concept of a home market was new until a couple of years ago in Madrid, but it has quickly become a plan to count on at least once a month.
Sale in a villa in Tres Olivos
For three days a chalet in Tres Olivos (calle Alonso Quijano, 35) opens its doors to sell absolutely all its furniture and interior design pieces. Admission is completely free and the visit can be booked for Friday.
The initiative pursues a dual objective: to facilitate the circulation of objects in good condition, promote sustainable purchasing and the emotional value of second-hand furniture. In addition, being a residential and real environment, the buyer can be inspired by the use of furniture in context, dialogue with the organizers and receive professional advice on decorating and space distribution.
The sale will be open three consecutive days, from October 3 to 5, although it is recommended to come early to access the most special pieces. Tickets for Friday, October 3 will be available on Sunday, September 28, and the rest of the days you will be able to attend without prior reservation.
