As if Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras weren’t charming enough on its own to make you want to get lost wandering its streets, this Saturday, April 11, the Barrio de las Letras Merchants’ Association will once again fill them with artisan stalls for a new edition of the Mercado de Las Ranas.
The event, now a neighborhood classic inspired by other street markets such as London’s Portobello Road or Camden Town and New York’s famous flea markets, will bring the best of local crafts, cuisine, and commerce to the streets between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Among the participating stalls, you’ll find a wide variety of items and gifts: fashion, accessories, illustration, food, natural cosmetics, jewelry, and home decor. And admission, by the way, is free.
In addition, over the past few months, the market has expanded its route, stretching from Calle Huertas, 2 to its corner with Calle Príncipe and continuing from the corner of Calle Huertas and León to its intersection with Costanilla de las Trinitarias.
More dates for the Mercado de Las Ranas in April

There is still one more date scheduled this month for another edition of the Mercado de Las Ranas, which is normally held on the first and third Saturdays of each month: with this schedule in place, the next event will be this coming Saturday, April 25.
A second chance for those who can’t attend this weekend to spend some time strolling among the stalls, chatting with artisans, and taking a break at one of the local establishments for a snack or a bite to eat.
