Las Presillas, one of the most popular bathing areas in the north of Madrid, is located 80 kilometers from the torrid heat of the capital, in the heart of the El Paular Valley. This natural enclave in the municipality of Rascafría, in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama, is home to three natural pools formed in the bed of the Lozoya River, with clean, fresh water from the thaw. Its surroundings, with green meadows, pine trees and views of the imposing Peñalara Peak, make the place a perfect plan to cope with the hot days.
The pools are organized on three levels, with different depths, allowing both recreational bathing and tranquility for those who prefer to lie in the sun. Unlike other more rugged bathing areas, Las Presillas has good access, marked paths and basic services such as toilets, wastebaskets, picnic tables and a kiosk (although without a beach bar). In addition, there is a shaded garden area, ideal for spending the day between dips and picnics.
Beyond the water: a plan for a stroll

The environment invites not only to bathe, but also to walk and explore. After a dip, it is worth approaching the nearby Monastery of Santa María de El Paular, the Puente del Perdón or start some stage of the Camino Natural del Valle del Lozoya, a simple path that runs through emblematic enclaves of the valley.
It is, after all, a very popular destination during the summer, especially for its balance between nature, accessibility and comfort. But it also requires some responsibility: there are no lifeguards, pets are not allowed in the bathing area, and cleanliness and respect for the environment are essential to preserve it.
Access, transportation and recommendations
Access on foot is free and free of charge, and the area is open daily from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, normally until mid to late September, depending on the weather. For those who come by car, the site has ample paid parking: 9 € per car, 30 € for buses and 3 € for motorcycles. As indicated from the municipal website of Rascafría, this payment only entitles you to park, not to access routes or additional services.
If you do not have a car, you can also go by public transport, taking the bus line 194 from Plaza de Castilla. The route ends in the center of Rascafría and from there it is a 20-25 minute walk to the pools. For more information, you can consult the transport service by calling 012 or at the Tourist Office of Rascafría (91 869 18 04).
