The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) had been warning and the forecasts have been fulfilled: the Community of Madrid has dawned on Monday under a yellow warning for very cold temperatures and snow at low altitudes that has been seen in some neighborhoods and areas of the capital.
During the early morning different parts of the city of Madrid have registered these precipitations in the form of snow, which in some cases have come to have some intensity. Even in some of them, where white was not seen since Filomena, the sidewalks and cars have been stained with a thin layer of white to curdle the flakes.
This has been the case in Vallecas, Ventas, Coslada, San Fernando de Henares, Galapagar, Valdebebas, Tres Cantos, Rivas, Arganda or Torrejón de Ardoz. The warning, active until 10 am, indicates the possibility of snow at any elevation and low danger (with an expected accumulation of about 2 cm and 3 cm in the metropolitan area and Henares corridor and up to 5 cm in the mountains).
Minimum temperatures below freezing on Epiphany Day

The effects of the Francis squall are also noticeable in the minimum temperatures , which drop to -7ºC in the sierra: it will remain in yellow warning for minimum temperatures until the 6th at 9am.
As for the rest of the region, thermometers will remain this Monday with minimum temperatures below zero: from -1ºC in the capital to -2ºC in Getafe, Alcalá de Henares and Navalcarnero or -3ºC in Aranjuez and Collado Villalba.
On Epiphany it will be even colder: Madrid expects a minimum of -2ºC and in Aranjuez a minimum of -4ºC.
