Boadilla del Monte will continue to link its residential areas by means of a new 250-meter footbridge that will connect El Pastel and Valenoso, two urban developments that are already home to 15,000 residents.
The construction will be built over the M-523, one of the major roads that cross Boadilla del Monte, so that both cyclists and pedestrians will be able to move from one neighborhood to another over the road.
The project, according to the Boadilla del Monte City Council, will be ready for the first quarter of 2027 and will involve an investment of close to 3 million euros, financed entirely with municipal funds. Companies interested in participating in the bidding process may submit their bids until November 10.
Better connection on foot and by bike

The objective of this footbridge is to improve the internal connection of the town and offer a safe transit option for citizens who travel on foot or by bicycle. In addition, it will extend the 32 kilometers of existing bike lanes and the additional 11 kilometers that are still under development.
The infrastructure will provide a new alternative for mobility, aimed at reducing emissions and improving the quality of life of citizens. The municipality intends to facilitate access between the different residential complexes and with the public transport network.
This is not the only connection project launched by the City Council, as there are already three other footbridges connecting different areas. One links Olivar de Mirabal and Viñas Viejas with Sector B, another one links the historical residential complexes and El Encinar with the urban area, and the third one links El Pastel, Cortijo Sur and La Cárcava with the avenue Víctimas del Terrorismo, in Valenoso.
What the footbridge will look like

The new overpass will be 250 meters long and will have a central section with a steel box and reinforced concrete access ramps. It will be topped with a reddish oxide protective film, which will integrate it with the aesthetics of the surroundings.
Lighting and street furniture such as railings, benches and litter garbage cans will also be installed to ensure a comfortable and safe route. In addition, the necessary infrastructures will be rerouted so that the work can be carried out correctly.
