It is one of the most complete getaways you can do from Madrid (and without breaking your head too much) but it is not very well known. We are talking about the one proposed by the Canal Train of Castilla La Mancha, which starts its 2025 season this month with its trips to Valladolid.
The ticket on board the Canal de Castilla Train includes everything you need to spend a full day out of the capital: from Avant trips with its on-board dramatization to additional trips by bus, guided tours (which vary depending on the day), lunch at a local restaurant and a one-hour boat trip on the Canal de Castilla.
The train will depart one Sunday a month, from February 23 to November 30, 2025. A total of 10 departures, each with a different program, so you can choose according to your interests.

According to the program these are the visits for this year (every day will be visited, in addition, the Flour Factory of Medina de Rioseco):
- February 23 – Visit to the Cathedral of Valladolid and its Tower.
- March 30 – Visit to the “Musical Gardens of Campo Grande”.
- April 27 – The lost explorer, dramatized route through Valladolid.
- May 25 – Guided tour of historic Valladolid.
- June 29 – Guided tour of historic Valladolid based on the novel El Hereje.
- July 27 – Visit to the Cavalry Academy of Valladolid.
- August 31 – The Mystery of the Valuable Stones dramatized visit. Archaeological Park of the Church of San Agustín.
- September 28 – Dramatized visit to The Ghosts of Fabio Nelli.
- October 26 – Visit to Fuensaldaña Castle.
- November 30 – Guided tour of Historic Valladolid from the train station.
The Canal de Castilla Train leaves Madrid Chamartín-Clara Campoamor at 10:15 am and arrives in Valladolid at 11:20 am. The return will be at 20:35h, arriving at the Madrid station at 21:40h. There is also the possibility of postponing the return to Madrid to the following day, but this must be indicated at the time of purchase.
The price of the tickets (round trip) is 95€ for adults and 70€ for children. They can be purchased through the Renfe website.
