If going to the movies were a film genre in itself, doing so while paying for a cheap ticket could practically be considered science fiction. The price is usually one of the major factors that the public claims when it comes to not going to theaters, but fortunately for lovers of the seventh art there are also economic options, and not only during the Fiesta del Cine or for those who love the seventh art over 65 years old. In Madrid there is a place where the ticket costs only 3€ all year round: the Cine Doré.
Located at number 3 Santa Isabel Street (Lavapiés), this cinema is, since February 28, 1989, the screening venue of the Filmoteca Española. As such, its program consists of cycles and activities “aimed at disseminating the Spanish film heritage“.
Among the screenings at the Cine Doré you can see classics, thematic cycles and retrospectives -sometimes with the presence of the directors, actors or actresses or other members of the film’s crew-, as well as special sessions such as those accompanied by live music. The Program can be consulted at the official website of the Filmoteca Española.
