At 3 bis Menéndez Pidal street, in the Madrid neighborhood of Chamartín, there is a unique centenary olive tree field in the city. This idyllic place hosts, from next Wednesday, June 26 and until August 31, nearly 40 concerts among olive trees under the so-called Noches clásicas del Olivar. A musical event responsible for enlivening the sweltering summer in Madrid with concerts of different wind and string ensembles.
The Olivar de Castillejo Foundation, the name given to the space, resumes one more year these musical evenings that will take place from Wednesday to Saturday at 8 pm.
As in previous editions, tickets cannot be reserved in advance and are not sold in advance: doors open at 7pm and access to the venue is on a first-come, first -served basis until full capacity is reached (125 people).
Price of concerts among olive trees
To attend the concerts you must pay a donation of 15€ per person (and, importantly, it must be in cash). However, for children the ticket is free of charge.
Seats are numbered and the chairs, according to the organization, cannot be moved. Smoking is not permitted and pets are not allowed on the premises. The organization reserves the right to cancel, in case of rain, and to refuse admission if the dress code (casual/informal) is not complied with.
The inaugural concert
This year’s program, which can be consulted in its web page the festival will be diverse and will feature performances by ensembles as well as solo concerts by some of the most prominent names in the national classical music scene. The inaugural evening will take place on the evening of June 26th with Trio Contempoclásico, formed by Arturo Calderón (violin), Katalyn Karácsony (viola) and Marta Mulero (cello).
After the concerts, attendees will be able to stay for refreshments in the shade of the centennial olive trees. For this purpose, the organization has a bar with high tables, where drinks and snackswill be sold.
