Confirmed: there will be a transport interchange in Conde de Casal. Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, assures that the works for its creation will start in two weeks, on February 17, and expects it to be completed during the first half of 2026.
According to El País, the Community of Madrid has been studying the project since the 1990s. In more than three decades, three plans have been presented with the aim of making this interchange a reality for the residents of the area. However, it has taken a fourth attempt to materialize: with a budget of 40 million euros, it will connect the extension of line 11 with the circular line (L6) of the metro, benefiting more than sixty thousand passengers a day.
The new facility, which will be located on Doctor Esquerdo street, will have an intermodal area on the surface that will bring together the urban and interurban bus stops that until now have been scattered along Conde de Casal. It will have 3,000 square meters, 13 fully accessible docks and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
Will there be a mobility plan for the traffic cuts?
In order to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the traffic cuts on the A-3 that the works will bring about, the Community of Madrid has announced that there will be an alternative mobility plan from February 17. The residents of the neighborhood are recommended to use public transport: Metro lines 1 and 9 will be reinforced, as well as the intercity buses in the area.
