The birth aid of 12,000 euros in Madrid is already active in 2026 and can be requested from this beginning of the year, but it is not a single payment, but a monthly benefit of 500 euros for a maximum of 24 months for certain families that meet very specific requirements. It is part of the Community of Madrid’s plan to support young mothers of medium and low incomes, and is complemented by direct aid from the City Council for birth or adoption.
The Community of Madrid grants 500 euros per month from the fifth month of pregnancy until the child turns two years old, which adds up to a maximum of 24 monthly payments and, therefore, up to 12,000 euros for each child. Pregnancies as well as births, adoptions and foster care of minors can benefit, as long as the age, registration and income requirements are met.
Main requirements to receive it in 2026
In order to access this birth grant in 2026, the following are required:
- To be up to 30 years old at the time of application.
- To have legal residence in Spain.
- To have resided and been registered in the Community of Madrid for at least five years within the ten years prior to the date of application (all the municipalities of the region are added together).
- Maintain residence in the Community while receiving the aid.
- Not to exceed 30,000 euros of annual income in individual taxation or 36,200 euros in joint taxation, according to the last available income tax return.
- Not to be subject to the prohibitions to be a beneficiary of subsidies set forth in the General Law on Subsidies.
Pregnant women from the 21st week of gestation, new mothers and people who have adopted or fostered minors since January 2022 can apply, provided that they fit the above profile.
How to apply step by step

The procedure is done at the Community of Madrid, not at the City Hall:
- Via electronic: through the electronic headquarters of the Community, in the section “Ayudas económicas a la natalidad“, filling in the form and attaching the documentation (DNI/NIE, certificate of census registration, IRPF, pregnancy report or adoption/adoption resolution, etc.).
- In person: at the registries of the Community of Madrid and at the places provided in the call for applications, for those who are not obliged to use electronic means of communication.
Once the application has been registered, the follow-up of the file is done from the Digital Account of the Community, where it is possible to consult notifications, provide new documents and check if the aid has been granted.
In addition to these 12,000 euros from the regional government, families living in the city of Madrid are eligible for the new direct aid from the City Council for birth or adoption, which are compatible with each other. These are single payments of 500 euros for the first child, 750 for the second and 1,000 for the third or subsequent children, for minors born or adopted between June 1, 2025 and August 31, 2026. They are requested at the municipal electronic office or at the City Hall registers within two months after the birth or adoption, and require five years of census registration in the capital, but there is no income limit.
