When in Madrid there are still highs of 20 °C, Christmas lights are already placed in almost all the streets of Madrid and of course Cortylandia is already lurking. Christmas in the capital would not be the same without Cortylandia, it is in the children’s imagination of any Madrilenian and every year brings together thousands of new innocent souls in front of the facade of El Corte Inglés de Preciados-Callao.
The 2025 edition will run from the end of November 2025 to January 5, 2026. More than a month in which the animated Christmas dolls will tell a new story.
The theme of this year’s show is not yet known, but last year’s show was titled The City of Time, and featured a giant Swiss cuckoo clock surrounded by forest animals and characters that come to life during 15 minutes of catchy music and colorful animation. A tale full of squirrels, birds, mice and foxes dressed as alpines, musicians, lumberjacks and dancers, all under the watchful eye of the cuckoo bird who acted as narrator and master of ceremonies.
Cortylandia 2025: tradition returns
Cortylandia, born in 1979 and inspired by the Disney parks, but adapted to the local flavor, has become a tradition that generates as much nostalgia as controversy, with staunch defenders and those who would prefer to avoid its catchy song.
The schedules of the performances, totally free, will be divided into several morning (12:00, 13:00 and 14:00) and afternoon sessions (17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00), with special schedules on December 24 and 31 and January 5, when some evening performances will be eliminated.
There will be no performances on Christmas Day or January 1. As always, the best way to enjoy it is to come on weekdays and to attend the first shows in the afternoon to avoid crowds.
