This weekend, Madrid becomes the setting for Doraemon, the famous Japanese anime series, which dedicates a special chapter to travel to Puerta del Sol. “New Year’s Eve in Spain” is the title of this episode, where Nobita and Doraemon will experience New Year’s Eve in our country, following the tradition of eating grapes.
It will be broadcast on television, on the Boing channel, next Saturday, November 29 at 10 am, as part of the series dedicated to Doraemon throughout the month. With this, Mediaset celebrates the 30th anniversary of the series in Spain, bringing its characters to one of the most representative places in the capital.
The chimes in Madrid

The chapter begins with a Nobita classic : Nobita falls asleep and misses the New Year’s Eve party, so Doraemon suggests spending New Year’s Eve in Spain. Thanks to the magic door, one of the cosmic cat’s most iconic inventions, they reach kilometer zero of the Puerta del Sol.
Thus, they will join the rest of Spaniards to eat the grapes to the rhythm of the chimes, strengthening ties between both cultures. This crossover demonstrates how Doraemon is no longer just a Japanese series, but also an icon in the Spanish imagination.
A footballer as a special guest

The union between Spain and Japan will be embodied by a very special guest: Take Kubo, the Japanese soccer player who plays for Real Sociedad. He will become the host of Doraemon and Nobita in Madrid, in a nod to the soccer fans of both countries.
“El fin de año en España” will be full of adventures, messes and confusions set in Madrid, as promised in its trailer. Although it will be dubbed into Spanish, the original Japanese version dedicates some space to Spanish expressions, which is quite amusing to listen to.
A month dedicated to Doraemon

Doraemon emerged as a manga comic by Fujiko F. Fujio in 1969 and three years later was adapted as an anime series. It quickly became a global phenomenon and arrived in Spain in 1994 through regional channels. It had a great success in audiences and since then more than 1200 episodes have been broadcasted.
Boing has been broadcasting it daily since 2011 and this year has dedicated the entire month of November to it to celebrate its three decades in Spain. Every weekend, Doraemon and Nobita increase their presence on the children’s channel, with movies and special episodes.
On Saturday, November 29, after the New Year’s Eve episode in Madrid, the films Doraemon and the Dog Kingdom (10:15 am) and Doraemon: Space Odyssey (12:30 pm) will be broadcast , followed by more episodes of the series until 3:00 pm.
