If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live in 18th- and early 19th-century Spain, this weekend you’ll have the chance to get a taste of it at the Goyesque Market in Torrejón de Ardoz, which kicks off this Friday around the Plaza Mayor and along Hospital and Enmedio streets in the town.
To recreate that authentic Madrid atmosphere and aesthetic, the Torrejón City Council has carefully curated the market’s ambiance with period decorations, banners, and ornamental elements that evoke this style.
Thus, during the walking tour through the town’s streets, residents and visitors will encounter numerous craft stalls offering handmade items ranging from ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and fans to decorative objects.
These types of markets are unthinkable, at this point, without the accompanying activities that liven up the event, and this one is no exception: among those scheduled for the occasion are workshops, parades, shows, and combat training demonstrations. In addition to all of the above, the selection of traditional cuisine will allow visitors to recharge their batteries.
Program for the Goyesco Market in Torrejón
Throughout the three days of the market, as we mentioned, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of activities designed for all ages, making it a great plan for a family weekend.
To name a few, the program includes musical parades, fire shows, various talks addressing topics such as how knights dressed, combat demonstrations, falconry exhibitions, and traditional and folk dances.
Children, on the other hand, have activities designed specifically for them, including a variety of workshops on decorating candles or cookies, making magic potions, or painting glasses. The full program can be viewed at this link.
