The celebration of Chinese New Year 2026 can be experienced not only in the streets of Usera, but also in the heart of the Salamanca district, where there is a cultural event that does it justice: the free exhibition Ancient China in New Creations, hosted by the Chinese Cultural Center in Madrid (Calle de General Pardiñas, 73).
The exhibition transcends any kind of temporal barrier, as it portrays Chinese civilization based on derivatives of Neolithic objects, but also contemporary reinterpretations of symbols from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
In total, it brings together hundreds of pieces, including replicas of cultural artifacts from some of China’s most important museums and heritage institutions, as well as cultural and creative products. According to the center itself, this selection aims to facilitate an understanding of “the depth of China’s cultural legacy.”
Visitors, on the other hand, may be surprised to find that the elements are not arranged in a classic way: it breaks the mold of traditional exhibitions by displaying the objects without the need for display cases, a decision that aims to facilitate dialogue between the ancient and the modern and demonstrate that these are objects that are integrated into everyday life.
