After more than 50 years of activity in the city, Móstoles bids farewell to one of its most emblematic factories: Frutos Secos Medina. The plant has closed following the incorporation of Borges Agricultural & Industrial Nuts, which has reorganized the company.
Thus, the Móstoles production center, located on Calle Puerto Línea 1, ceases its activity, with a redundancy plan (ERE) affecting more than 100 workers. The measure is the result of a consensual negotiation and responds to an optimization plan.
According to the Borges Medina Foods Company group, the infrastructure in southern Madrid required a massive investment, which was too costly, and they preferred to avoid this and concentrate their resources on other centers in the country.
From churros to nuts

Frutos Secos Medina was founded in 1960 as a local churros shop by two brothers, Antonio and José Luis. In the mid-1980s, they opened their factory and gradually moved into the snack sector, eventually specializing in nuts.
In September 2025, Frutos Secos Medina signed a partnership agreement with Borges, combining their brands to consolidate their position as a leading operator in the nuts, dried fruit, and snacks sector.
Both companies shared the same vision for the future and wanted to maintain the quality and excellence they had built up over time. Their products include roasted and salted nuts, cocktail mixes and snack mixes, Mr Pipón sunflower seeds, and a range of organic products.
The centers in Tarragona and Valencia

Now, Móstoles is saying goodbye to its factory and the company’s origins, leaving Tarragona and Valencia as its centers of operations, where the machinery from southern Madrid has been distributed .
The company hopes that this change will have a positive impact, as it has led to an increase in the number of employees in Reus (Tarragona). In addition, the Náquera (Valencia) headquarters has just launched a new line of fried corn, which promises to be a significant investment for the brand.
