The famous Metrópolis building, located between Alcalá Street and Gran Vía, reopens its doors, although not everyone will be able to enter. As announced by the Madrid City Council four years ago, the building has been transformed into an elite private club managed by Grupo Paraguas, one of the leading luxury restaurant companies in Madrid.
Its reopening is scheduled for January 21, 2026, 115 years after the first inauguration. As explained to Vanitatis by the owners of Grupo Paraguas, Sandro Silva and Marta Seco, the new Metrópolis “will bring together music, gastronomy, art, wellness and a constant agenda of proposals”.
6,000 m² of pure luxury

After the renovation, the building will be a boutique hotel with 6,000 square meters, with 19 rooms and 7 gastronomic spaces. It is conceived as an international private club, where members will have “absolute priority” in all areas, as the owners have explained.
However, the 1,500 square meters of the first floor will be accessible to all Madrid residents and visitors, who will be able to peek into a small part of one of the main references of luxury in the capital.
Part of an international circuit

The new Club Metropolis will be characterized by exclusivity, hospitality and experience. In Marta Seco’s own words, “everything is designed to inspire, excite and make you feel“.
Its partners will be profiles with criteria from all over the world and the building will be able to accommodate a maximum of 1,283 people, according to the project approved by the City Council.
Throughout the year, the program will include gastronomic activities, cultural events and private meetings, which will turn the building into an embassy of Spanish culture, highlighting the way of living, creating and socializing that defines Madrid.
The expansion of Grupo Paraguas

With this project, Grupo Paraguas expands its business area, which began in 2004 with the restaurant El Paraguas. Since then, its founders have continued to invest in initiatives with their own style and personality, such as the gastronomic spaces Ten con Ten, Ultramarinos Quintín, Amazónico and The Jazz Club, among many others.
All their proposals have in common luxury, excellent quality and a high level of service, standards that will be maintained in the new Club Metrópolis. In this way, they will transform a historic and iconic building of the city into an epicenter of luxury.
