Vallecas is transformed for a week in the Puppet District of Madrid during the festival Titirimadroño, which this year is celebrated for the fifteenth time in the capital. From Monday, October 21 to Sunday, October 27, the Entrevías neighborhood will host seven shows and a workshop for object theater enthusiasts.
From Monday to Friday there will be a monographic workshop at the Lope de Vega Cultural Center designed for professionals in the plastic arts. It will be given by puppeteer Iker Pérez, who will share with visitors techniques for incorporating mechanisms into puppets.
Puppeteers who will fill the Entrevías neighborhood with life
Thursday 24 will be the turn of the first puppet show of the festival: Gloria Bendita, a play for adult audiences that won the CREAR award in 2022. With this show, Arteria Producciones wants to demonstrate that puppets do not only move children.
On Saturday 26 there will be outdoor performances at Amós Acero Park. One of the most outstanding is that of Helena Millán, a puppeteer who has been directing her own puppet company for more than 35 years and has won important awards during her career, including a FETEN Award in 2010. Millán presents to the 15th edition of Titirimadroño his play La pizarra perdida de Einstein, in which the secrets of the most famous physicist of all times are revealed.
In addition, two interactive installations will be set up in the morning: Titeretú ( from 10:00 to 13:00), in which children can become giant puppets, and Versos que Anidan ( 10:30 to 14:00), a set of 30 nesting houses with objects related to poetry.
To put the finishing touch to this magical festival, on Sunday 27th La Mà de l’Artista, a Catalan company specializing in glove puppet shows and live music, will arrive at the El Pozo del Tío Raimundo Cultural Center.
