What has not happened in recent years could happen twice in less than a month: after the snowfall recorded in the Community of Madrid at the beginning of the month, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that the region will see snowfall at low altitudes again this week.
Specifically, forecasts predict that on both Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, the snow level will drop considerably, to the point that even in the southernmost areas—such as Parla, Aranjuez, and Morata de Tajuña—a few flakes could fall.
The episode will begin on Tuesday, January 27, at 12 noon. Snow is 100% guaranteed at higher elevations (Cercedilla, Rascafría, and Somosierra) and 80% guaranteed in La Cabrera. The surprise on the map comes at Colmenar Viejo, where the probability of seeing snow is 55%, and at El Escorial, where it is 35%.
On the same day, between 6 p.m. and midnight, the altitude will continue to drop, leaving a probability of snow in Alcalá de Henares (25%), San Martín de Valdeiglesias (20%), 15% in Navalcarnero, Parla, Morata de Tajuña, and Aranjuez, and 10% in Madrid capital.
On Wednesday, snow is more likely at lower altitudes.

Wednesday 28 is when the probability of seeing snow at lower altitudes increases, and does so considerably: in Colmenar Viejo and El Escorial it coincides with that of places such as La Cabrera, reaching 80%.
This is followed by San Martín de Valdeiglesias with 50%, El Casar with 45%, Alcalá de Henares with 35%, and Madrid capital with 25%. Navalcarnero, Parla, Morata de Tajuña, and Aranjuez share a 10% probability of snow.
Rain and storms throughout the week

In addition to these snowfall episodes, widespread rain and even storms are expected throughout the week in some parts of the region, so an umbrella will be one of your best allies when going out these days.
The 112 emergency service of the Community of Madrid reminds us of the importance of extreme caution when driving during periods of rain, as visibility is reduced and braking distances increase. If you have to travel, it is recommended that you slow down, increase your safety distance, and turn on your lights to make yourself visible on the road.
