What is the price of fake news? In the program La Revuelta, presented by David Broncano in La 1 of Televisión Española, today they have it very clear: it has just cost them the celebration of a surprise that they had been preparing for some time and that was scheduled for today in Gran Vía and Plaza de Callao. And no: it was not a free concert of Estopa.
Although that was the information that has been spreading since yesterday in different media – with versions that vary between a free performance, a show or an event in the heart of the city by the Muñoz brothers – the reality is that this supposed concert as the culmination of the first season of the program was not planned to take place.
This was denied yesterday afternoon by the sports newspaper Marca and has been confirmed by the program itself in their social networks after a few minutes past 13h this Thursday.
La Revuelta ‘s message about Estopa’s “concert”.
The statement has been made public through their profiles on Instagram, where they have posted the following message:
“We are sad to communicate that, although it was not a concert of Estopa nor was it going to cut any street as it was told yesterday in some media, the dimension that everything has taken as a result of that incorrect information being published forces us to cancel what we were preparing for today in Gran Vía and Plaza de Callao. We are very sorry because we have been working on this for a long time, but right now they tell us that it would not be safe to do it and even if you do not believe it, we are responsible people. Tonight in the program we will tell you more”.
The preparations for the occasion could already be seen in the area, where structures were being set up to mount that which was being prepared by the program. In the light of these statements, and as has already happened in the past, they will deal with the unexpected and will know how to turn it -as the last sentence of the statement says- into content for a television program that, in addition to its usual audience, will almost certainly add tonight more people curious to know what happened.
Fake plan accounts on social networks
We live in a time in which it seems more complicated than ever to differentiate between truthful and untruthful information, and no area escapes it. Not even in the area of plans, where you can find videos to feed baby penguins in a cafeteria in Madrid or to swim among crocodiles, and no matter how surreal they may seem… there are always those who fall for them.
