From watching it on certain television channels at certain times to having someone on your for you page on TikTok read your cards. Tarot, like horoscopes, has found new ways of expression and generating interest throughout its history, and has even found its way into art. And that is the central theme of the exhibition The Inverted Tower: Tarot as Form and Symbol.
The exhibition, located in rooms B, C, D and E of La Casa Encendida (Ronda de Valencia, 2), has gone viral through the account @criiswitchy. And it shows something as contemporary as the fact that, faced with a world and a time in which our only certainty is uncertainty, we look for “other sources of meaning, another symbology, a refuge from the elements,” argues Pilar Soler Montes, curator of the exhibition.
Thus, the exhibition brings together the work of different artists who have resorted to the language, aesthetics and symbolism of the tarot to create their works from the 1960s to the present. Among them are names such as Agnès Varda, Andy Warhol, Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, Johanna Dumet or Plastique Fantastique.
