Madrid is once again turning the June solstice into a huge musical celebration: the European Day of Music 2026 (DEMM 26) comes to Matadero with a lineup that blends electronic, pop, jazz, flamenco, and new roots genres in live performances. For three days, from June 19 to 21, Plaza Matadero and Nave Una will be filled with concerts curated to serve as a barometer of the best sounds currently on the independent and alternative scene.
DEMM 26 is presented, in the words of the City Council itself, as “a true barometer of contemporary music,” with a diverse and open program that combines established artists and rising stars.
In previous editions, the festival has drawn more than 15,000 people in a single weekend, establishing itself as one of the most powerful cultural events of Madrid’s spring season. In 2026, the official goal is once again to reach that attendance figure, with a format that caters to both the general public and the most discerning listeners.
Night at Plaza Matadero: from electronic pop to the flamenco of the future
At the heart of DEMM 26 are the evening concerts at Plaza Matadero, scheduled for Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20, from 8:00 PM to 1:15 AM. Over the course of two evenings, eight live performances will cover much of the musical landscape that defines the country’s most exciting scene today.
Among the confirmed acts are: Alizzz, a key producer and artist in Spanish electronic pop; Maria Arnal, one of the most distinctive voices on the current scene; pablopabloandDepresión Sonora, two acts that resonate with a generation that has made dark pop, bedroom post-punk, and lyrics of rootlessness their own language. In addition to a long list that includes the Jaén-based flamenco singer– Ángeles Toledano, and the duoRita Payés and Lucía Fumero, who take jazz and song into intimate and frontier territories. You can view the full lineup at this link.
Mornings for kids (and not-so-kids) at Nave Una
DEMM 26 also sets aside space for families with two matinee sessions at Nave Una, on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, at 12:00 p . m . These concerts are designed so that children can experience live music in a safe and comfortable environment, without sacrificing artistic quality.
The headliners of these morning shows will be:
- Le Parody, who has spent years exploring DIY electronic music, folklore, and pop from a very personal perspective, here adapted to a format suitable for all ages.
- La Fantástica Banda, veterans at bringing music and literature to children through story-concerts, illustrated albums, and shows where singing, dancing, and imagination go hand in hand.
Tickets, prices, and how to make sure you don’t miss out
Tickets, now on sale via the Madrid Destino website, cost 5 euros per day, both for the evenings at Plaza Matadero and for the morning concerts at Nave Una.
This is a “single ticket per day” format: with this pass, you can enjoy all the concerts scheduled during that time slot, with access until the venue reaches the capacity set by the organizers. Matadero and Madrid Destino recommend buying tickets in advance—especially for the nights of the 19th and 20th, which are expected to be the most popular—and arriving early to avoid last-minute lines and not miss the first live performances
