Professional vehicle drivers are becoming increasingly necessary in Spain. In 2021, the Association of Training Companies in Transport, Logistics and Safety (FORMASTER) estimated that the shortage of drivers could reach 40,000 workers by 2026.
José Luis Quero, director of Ford Trucks at national level, revealed that 72% of the drivers with a license to drive trucks in our country are over fifty years old. This figure highlights the lack of interest of young people in this type of trades, which is partly due to the high price of type C, D and C+E licenses. For this reason, the Community of Madrid has launched a €600 voucher to help future carriers.
Requirements to apply for the aid
The voucher is intended for employed or job seekers with Spanish nationality or residence authorization. In addition, applicants must prove that they reside or have their place of work in the Community of Madrid.
To access the C license, it will be necessary to have a type B license (for cars and light vehicles) and be at least 21 years old (except if the applicant has an initial Ordinary CAP, who may apply for it from the age of 18).
For the D, the car license is also required, but the minimum age is raised to 24 (although in certain cases it may be lowered to 21). In the case of the C+E, the C license is required and you must be over 21 years of age.
Required documentation
- Form provided by the Community of Madrid.
- Employment contract or documentation justifying the employment situation.
- Driving license B (C in the case of those applying for the C+E license).
- Declaration of Absence of Conflict of Interests (DACI).
