Here the expression “film village” has a literal meaning: Hoyo de Manzanares, just over 40 minutes drive from Madrid, has been home for more than 60 years to the first stable film sets in Europe, Golden City. In them was filmed For a Fistful of Dollars, by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, and that feature film would be followed by hundreds.
Now the municipality wants to value this link with the seventh art with the initiative Hoyo de Manzanares, a film town, which will be held until the end of the month with a varied program.
Activities range from guided tours of the sets to screenings and a gastronomic offer inspired by western films or characters.
Country Music Festival (May 24)
One of the most outstanding proposals of the program is the Country Musical Festival to be held this Saturday, May 24: a cowboy day from start to finish with “country music concerts, dancing, children’s activities, food and Tex-Mex drinks“.
The organizers encourage visitors to put on their cowboy hat, plaid shirt and boots and enjoy the performances of the following artists:
- Honki-Tronk Band
- Black Rose
- Wild Horses
- Bad Woman
There will also be country dancing and for the little ones there will be a mechanical bull and face painting. You can check the complete program at this link.
