Talking about an unlimited buffet and grandma’s cooking is almost redundant: isn’t it a universal experience to go to grandma’s house for lunch and, before you know it, she’s already refilled your plate? Well, La Cantera del Tinterillo, in Rivas-Vaciamadrid (Calle del Cincel, 4), is the closest thing there is… but in restaurant format.
Its unlimited homemade buffet is also very reasonably priced considering what it includes —we’ll come back to that a little later—: from Monday to Thursday it costs €24.90 and on weekends, holidays, and the eve of holidays (as is usually the case with this type of format) the price rises to €29.90.
On the other hand, if you visit on a Sunday at lunchtime, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the restaurant hosts live music performances.
What does this buffet with grandma’s food include?

The buffet option consists, first of all, of a selection of starters (all included, no need to choose). These are: Caesar salad, house pâté, patatas bravas, migas (breadcrumbs with egg, chistorra sausage, peppers, and pork loin), tripe with chickpeas (which you can have seconds of), and a daily special (such as seafood or vegetable soup).
Secondly, the main courses consist of various cuts of meat that you can have as many times as you like: beef entrecôte, Iberian pork secreto and chicken churrasco with homemade potatoes and peppers.
Finally, the desserts are also homemade, and options include cheesecake, tres leches cake, and carrot cake. As in the previous cases (and if you still have room in your stomach at this point), there is an open bar.
For those who eat with their eyes, this video uploaded by Javier Gallardo gives a complete tour of all the dishes on the menu.
