A new app called Kebabboxd invites users to rate and review kebab shops using the same approach as movie platforms like Letterboxd. The app brings the experience of rating movies to urban cuisine, allowing customers to log their visits, leave detailed comments, and interact with reviews posted by their friends.
The platform includes an interactive map that pinpoints more than 7,000 such establishments throughout Spain. As its main visual identifier, each eatery has its own promotional poster, aesthetically designed to look like the official cover art for a feature film.
Madrid restaurants on the platform
The app’s directory has a strong presence in the capital. Among the businesses that already have their own movie-style poster and rating profile are classic spots in various neighborhoods, such as Doner Kebab Lavapiés, El Turkito, and BD Madrid Kebab.
Through user interaction and the accumulation of reviews, the initiative aims to create a virtual national championship. The ultimate goal of these votes is to cross-reference data and citizen recommendations to ultimately crown the country’s best kebab spot based on the public’s criteria.
