Starting from Lisbon on August 17 and arriving in Madrid on September 8. That has been or is being the beginning and end of the itinerary of the 79th edition of the Tour of Spain. A 3,200-kilometer route that will finish in Madrid this Sunday in an individual time trial that has its first start scheduled at 16:20 and the last finish at 19:30.

The starting point is the Telefónica District (in Las Tablas) and the finishing point is the Telefónica building on Gran Vía -this gesture is a tribute to the centenary of the founding of the Telefónica brand.And this distance comprises 24.6 kilometers in length.
Madrid, which has hosted 47 starts and 78 finishes in La Vuelta, will see eight of its twenty-one districts crossed by some of the world’s best cyclists in a stage that offers no major technical or orographic difficulties.
The previous stage, on the other hand, will have taken place in Burgos on the previous day (Saturday, September 7) in a 171-kilometer race.
Where to watch the stage

The answer to the question of where to watch the twenty-first stage of the Vuelta clearly points in one direction: the Gran Vía. It is at this point where the individual time trial finishes and where the largest crowds are expected to swirl.

The total number of districts through which the cyclists will pass is eight and they are as follows: Hortaleza, Chamartín, Ciudad Lineal, Chamberí, Centro,Tetuánand Retiro.
Some emblematic points will be the MRDV Building (the Mirador de Sanchinarro), a high percentage of Bravo Murillo (the Quevedo traffic circle is a good option to bet to see the Vuelta), the Castellana (from Rubén Darío to Cibles) or Paseo del Prado.
Madrid City Council’s mobility plan
On the occasion of the celebration of the Vuelta Ciclista a España on September 8, 2024, there will be traffic cuts from 5 am until at least 10 pm on Paseo del Prado, Plaza de Cibeles and Gran Vía. In addition, there will be mobility incidents in nearby areas such as Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, Plaza de la Independencia, Princesa and Ventura Rodríguez during the day.

Several sections of the individual time trial route will also be closed to traffic between 12:00 and 21:00. These include key areas such as the Telefónica District, Avenida de Santiago, Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza Castilla, Calle Bravo Murillo, and Gran Vía, among others, significantly affecting traffic on these Madrid thoroughfares.
