To improve safety and increase the frequency of trains on Line 7, the Community of Madrid will carry out a series of refurbishments between Thursday, November 28 and Sunday, December 1. During this time, metro service will be suspended at Las Musas, San Blas and Simancas stations; the section between García Noblejas and the Metropolitan Stadium.
The works will be carried out at night in order to affect as little as possible the normal operation of the orange line. In addition, the Community of Madrid has taken into account the events scheduled at the Atlético de Madrid stadium in order to further limit the inconvenience. Of course, there will be a substitute transport service to be announced in the coming days.
These refurbishments are part of the signaling plan between the Metropolitano Stadium and Pitis, a project to which the Community has allocated more than 33 million euros. The aim is to increase train capacity, control speed limitations and incorporate the automatic door opening system. In total, 20 kilometers of tunnel and 24 stations on Line 7 will benefit from the initiative, which is co-financed with European funds.
Metro Line 7 is key to decongesting particularly busy routes such as the circular metro line (L6) due to its connection with Avenida de América. It has also contributed to improving accessibility in areas to the west of Madrid such as Coslada and San Fernando de Henares.
