Metro Line 9 will have a new operational station by 2029. The last Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has put out to tender for the third time -after being unsuccessful on two occasions- the contract for the drafting of the project.
When operational, the new Line 9 station, which will be located between Puerta de Arganda and Rivas Urbanizaciones, will serve the new southeast Madrid developments of Los Ahijones and Berrocales.
The project will be executed in 14 months has a budget of 825,800 euros, which is an increase of the initial 328,600 euros, which they explain as follows: “The new dossier incorporates the application of a European Commission safety regulation […] that must be integrated from the design phase.”
According to calculations by the Community of Madrid, approximately 300,000 people could live in this area when all the developments (including Los Cerros, El Cañaveral and Valdecarros) are completed.
Developments linked by Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)
In terms of public transport, all the aforementioned developments next to Ensanche de Vallecas will also be linked by a 16 km long boulevard, along which will run the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), which will connect at three points with Madrid’s existing public transport network.
The reopening of metro L7B.

In Coslada and San Fernando de Henares, service was resumed a few weeks ago on metro L7B, after having been partially closed for more than 1,200 days due to works (more than three years).
However, the news has been received without optimism by the affected neighbors who are still in the area: they denounce that they are still suffering structural problems in their homes as a result of the railway line and that they are not being given solutions.
