Madrid, 1920s. The Gran Vía is expanding and the first subway lines begin to operate. The city was changing -it was modernizing- and, at the same time, so was the society of the time, with new forms of consumption and lifestyles. In the background, an artistic movement that would define this new era: Art Deco, the protagonist of the free exhibition Madrid Art Deco, 1925: The Style of a New Era.
Taking advantage of the 100th anniversary of the Paris International Exposition of 1925 -where this new artistic language that captivated the world and became a symbol of modernity was unveiled- the Conde Duque Contemporary Culture Center brings together more than 50 pieces that show its impact and relevance in the capital.
The exhibition brings together funds from the Lopez-Trabado and Carlos Velasco (La Retrografía) collections, as well as institutional loans from the National Museum of Decorative Arts, the Telefonica Foundation, the Municipal Newspaper Library of Madrid, the Museum of History of Madrid and the Memoria de Madrid Digital Library.

Art Deco permeated everything, and that is why in the exhibition you can see examples of this new artistic language in the most varied media, ranging from posters to shop windows, perfumes, cinemas, advertising, fashion or architecture.
Visitors will be able to stroll among period costumes, magazines, publications, illustrations and everyday objects that reflect the spirit of that bustling era.
