On Saturday, March 1, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the Explanada Negra will put the soundtrack to the Carnival festivities. There will be three shows of very different styles, and of course, plenty of room for dancing.
The musical day of the Explanada Negra starts with the performance of a band whose genre is defined as deprepop. Although it may sound paradoxical to put rhythm to Carnival with a melancholic group, the truth is that Confeti de Odio has the ability to mix deep lyrics with punk rhythms, immersing their listeners in a roller coaster of emotions. They will take the stage at 18:00 to play some of their hits, including El Malo Final.
At 19:00 DJ set brava! will arrive to spread his energy to the audience. He has played at festivals like Primavera Sound and Coachella, and now he comes to Madrid to celebrate the carnivals mixing reggaeton rhythms.
Chico Blanco will be in charge of the last show on Saturday. This DJ has created his own style fusing house, UK garage and rap. After collaborating with artists such as Florentino, Paurro or Byron Yeates, he puts his focus on music to show off on the dance floor.
You can reach the Explanada Negra de Madrid Río by public transport, with metro lines 3 and 6 getting off at Legazpi station or with the buses that stop at La Chopera (6, 18, 19 and 45).
More activities for Carnival
Although there is only a long weekend in schools, all Madrid is full of activities to celebrate Carnival from Saturday March 1 to Wednesday March 5. Masked dances, murgas, chirigotas, workshops and more surprises will invade the capital and some surrounding towns. The traditional Burial of the Sardine, as every year, will put the finishing touch to the week of costumes.
