With the heat bearing down and summer just around the corner, water parks will soon join Madrid’s municipal and regional swimming pools as refreshing summer activities. And one of them, Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada, will do so with a brand-new attraction: Kilauea, a seven-meter-high water roller coaster that reaches speeds of up to 35 km/h.
The attraction takes its name from a volcano in Hawaii and is inspired by a legend surrounding it, according to which the goddesses of water and power clashed. A name that seems fitting for what is already the largest and most technologically advanced attraction in the park’s history.
In terms of numbers, this water roller coaster spans nearly 180 meters, reaches speeds of 35 km/h and a height of 7 meters, and features four acceleration points and various visual effects along the ride. But what Aquopolis highlights as its main distinguishing feature is a 30-meter launch ramp powered by water jets.
Kilauea won’t be the only new addition this summer season: this water roller coaster will be located in a new area of the park, Mana Nui, spanning over 4,500 square meters, where there will also be rest areas. The park will open its doors on Friday, June 12, 2026.
