In Madrid, physical activity is increasingly encouraged. This year, the City Council has promoted the development of new green areas with sports areas, in addition to holding events such as Mobility Week, with the aim of making the capital a more attractive city to train. It also offers a service to reserve places in some of the best sports facilities in the Community.
To access this service, simply download the Madrid Móvil application. Once inside, we find the “Madrid es Deporte” section, which asks us to register to enter it. You can create an account from the app, quickly, conveniently and free of charge, which is activated as soon as you confirm the e-mail address you want to link.
Training at the price of a coffee
In “Madrid es Deporte” we can sign up for municipal competitions, book open classes, rent sports units (such as paddle or tennis courts) and get free-use tickets for running, cycling, skating, calisthenics, climbing, and even boat riding.
In the “Free use tickets” section we can filter by availability the centers linked to the app. Once we choose the day and time we want to train, the app establishes the price of the service. Tickets to municipal sports centers cost between €2.50 and €3 per hour, depending on the activity we want to do.
One of the biggest advantages offered by “Madrid es Deporte” can be found in the open classes. We can enjoy aerofitness sessions, yoga, pilates and many other gym disciplines at an almost free price: 3€ per class. Of course: they are in high demand and it is advisable to hurry to book them.
