An exhibition in a garden that changes as the hours of the day pass. Or to put it another way: you won’t see the same exhibition if you go in the morning versus in the late afternoon; if you visited in June versus if you plan to go in August. Not because the pieces change, but because the changes in both the vegetation surrounding the pieces and the light make viewing a different experience with every passing minute.
It is, in a way, an invitation to be fully present and to share in the same serenity and tranquility that emanate from Antón Casamor’s sculptures, the stars of this exhibition: 13 pieces depicting female nudes, crafted in patinated plaster, terracotta, stone, bronze, and marble.
This creates an interesting contrast that allows visitors to “observe the tension between the solidity of the works’ material and the instability of their surroundings, ”in the words of the exhibition’s curator, Marta Carreté.
Exhibition dates at the Lázaro Galdiano Garden
The exhibition “Antón Casamor: Light and Sculpture,” organized in collaboration with the Casamor Foundation, opened on June 12 and will be on view through August 23 at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid (Calle de Serrano, 122).
Hours
- Tuesday through Friday: open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and, in the afternoons, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturdays and Sundays: open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Closed: every Monday, August 15, and December 24, 25, and 31, 2026.
