Next week, the Madrid City Council will open a new application period for birth or adoption grants. Families will be able to receive 500 euros for the first child, 750 for the second, and 1,000 for the third and subsequent children, in a single payment.
The program has a budget of 15.4 million euros and is intended for families whose children were born or adopted between September 1, 2026, and December 31, 2027.
Requirements for Applying for the Benefits
The benefit does not set income or age limits for parents. However, anyone submitting an application must have been registered as a resident of Madrid for at least five years, hold Spanish citizenship or have legal residency in Spain, and not have been deprived of parental rights.
This assistance is compatible with other benefits intended for the same purpose.
When and how to apply for the 1,000 euros per child
The application period will open next week, once the official call for applications is published. Applications may be submitted in person or through the Madrid City Council’s online portal.
Families will have two months from the day following the birth or adoption to apply for the benefit. For children born or adopted on or after September 1, 2026, and before the publication of the call for applications, the deadline will begin on the day following said publication.
This municipal benefit is separate from the Community of Madrid’s monthly subsidy of 500 euros, which can total up to 14,500 euros per child and has its own eligibility requirements.
