Only they are capable of mixing the philosophy of Enrique Ocaña or Jünger with neighborhood stories, the little apartment on Calle Elfo, Paganini, Pythagorean theory, the hard life, or Torrente. Alcalá Norte has been on the Madrid scene for years, but it is only now, in the last couple of years, that they have become the favorite band of many, many people. So many that last Christmas they filled three Rivieras in a row. They have just released a new single, El hombre planeta, a preview of what will be their second album. And what does that mean? That the next stop is Movistar Arena: it will be on February 20, 2027.
Álvaro Rivas (vocals), Jaime Barbosa (drums), Laura de Diego (keyboards), Carlos Elías (guitar), and Pablo Prieto (bass) are from Ciudad Lineal. They have been writing songs since 2019, and although they are now labeled a “breakout band,” the only revelation that applies here is their lyrics full of twists and turns, iconic phrases that transcend the choruses, and a very unique character on stage (and in interviews).
‘El hombre planeta’ will be played at Movistar Arena

After selling out La Riviera for three consecutive days , why not take the plunge with a Movistar Arena in 2027? They’re making us wait, but it all makes sense: it will be the concert to present their eagerly awaited second album, from which we already know the first single, El hombre planeta, a song inspired by Heinrich Heine’s story about Paganini, the cursed violinist, in his Florentine Nights.
We went with them to the Planetarium to learn the ins and outs of the single, verse by verse, while planetary coincidences occurred: the appearance of Yoko, a friendly little dog who could well be the dog in the song; the arrival of school trips while we were talking about school playgrounds in the interview…
Rivas, vocalist and one of the founding members of the group, has said about this Movistar Arena: “The Las Ventas bullring has aluminosis: you can’t play there, and we don’t want to go much further. Luckily, two EMT buses—the 146, from Quinta de los Molinos, and the 21, from El Salvador—connect our neighborhood with Plaza de Felipe II. That’s where the Movistar Arena stands. And that’s where we’ll have to present our second album.” Amen.
