If there’s a world where almost anything is possible, it’s Neverland (also known as “Neverland”). A place where children fly, never grow up, and are surrounded by magical creatures like fairies and mermaids. This fall, Madrid opens a door to Neverland: “The Island of Neverland” is an acrobatic stage show set in a 7,000-square-meter space in downtown Madrid. Upon entering this space, we’re no longer in Madrid: welcome to the world of Neverland. An immersive set design draws us into the fantasy before, during, and after the show. The performance combines theater with contemporary circus, the most dizzying aerial acrobatics, as well as immersive technology and a dreamlike visual narrative.
It’s no surprise that behind this show are the creative teams at LETSGO and Balinch Wonder Studio, responsible for—among other projects—the production of works such as *The Phantom of the Opera*, the Olympic Games ceremonies, and the opening ceremonies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Everything We Know About The Island of Neverland
An inspiring island, somewhat nostalgic for all of us who read the endless stories of Neverland… but also innovative: *The Island of Neverland* follows the life of Tempesta, daughter of Captain Hook, the fearsome pirate.
Enchanted by the beauty and possibilities of Neverland, she must decide whether to continue the pirate’s wandering life or change her family’s destiny by staying in Neverland with the Lost Boys.
But so does the audience. The show is presented as an interactive adventure, inviting visitors to choose a side: the Lost Boys or the pirates? In this way , everyone in attendance will become part of a story that’s constantly evolving.
A stratospheric team
Among the big names behind this blockbuster production are Simone Ferrari and Lulu Helbaek (Creative Directors), who—among other projects—directed the ambitious opening ceremony for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and have developed shows for Cirque du Soleil.
Also on board are Artistic Director Oriol Tomás, recipient of awards such as the Claude Rostand Grand Prize; John Metcalfe, composer and musical director who has worked as an arranger and producer for Coldplay, U2, and Sabrina Carpenter; and Edesia Moreno, with over 28 years of experience at Cirque du Soleil as an acrobatic designer; Gavin Maxwell as Movement Director, who has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Frantic Assembly, and the Battersea Arts Centre.
As for the immersive set design, the team includes Stéphane Roy, who has more than a hundred productions under his belt (such as KOOZA, Kurios, and Zarkana for Cirque du Soleil); Álvaro Molina, a set design associate who has worked on *Squid Game: The Experience* and projects for The Walt Disney Company; Ivan Pierri, responsible for defining the visual identity of major productions such as X Factor and the Sanremo Music Festival; and Poti Martín, with over 35 years of international experience in sound design (The Lion King, Les Misérables…).
Joining them is Nicolas Vaudelet, trained at haute couture houses such as Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton, who has designed costumes for Cirque du Soleil and the FIFA World Cup; and José Sedano, a specialist in makeup and hairstyling, who has worked on global blockbusters such as *The Crown* and *The Little Mermaid*.
